MAFITISHEI is the new album by shishi—a record about feeling overwhelmed by people, situations, and the world around you, when sometimes “nothing makes sense.” The visual concept draws from the DIY music culture of the ’90s and early 2000s, when we made handmade covers and playlists for our favourite music on cassettes and CDs. We used whatever was around us—collages, felt-tip pens, markers, scraps of paper, and anything else we could find—to make each piece feel personal. For shishi, I wanted to bring that feeling back. The concept follows a girl making the album artwork at home, creating a unique handmade cover for each song and translating its mood into an illustration. The covers were then animated and turned into visual companions for each track.
